Second Annual SCL Con Coming to the Library!
We’re hosting our second annual SCL Con on Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with fun for all ages! There is no entry cost. If you’ve ever wanted to get lightsaber lessons from a certain jedi or compete in an escape room with your closest adult friends, SCL Con is the place to be!
For one day only, you can immerse yourself in a comic book universe at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library! To start off the day, kids ages 6-10 can sign-up at the children’s desk upon arrival to hang out and play games with characters from a galaxy far, far away. We will be taking 25 kids each at two different times: 10:30 AM and 11:15 AM. Participants will get to meet Scavenger, Imperial Knight and their favorite droid and get photos!
Adults can participate in an escape room with groups of their choosing at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Sign up upon arrival to get your spot. Dave and Buster’s will be providing prizes for the fastest group!
ArkLUG will be downstairs with their full LEGO® display, which you can add your own creation to. This year, they will display the new Saturn V rocket and Apollo 11 lunar lander, in honor of the 50th anniversary on the moon landing, as well as some “classic” LEGO® space on display! There will also be a running train layout, Minecraft, play-brick for hands-on activities and other awesome stuff. To check out some of their displays, visit their website.
The Makerspace will feature rotating crafts, as well as a green screen. Each attendee will have the opportunity to get their photo taken in front of the green screen with a choice of two backgrounds, and have that photo printed.
The teen area will have games going on all day for all ages, so stop in and play a few rounds of the mystery card game, Werewolf and other games! On your way to the teen area, make sure to visit the local vendors who will be selling crafts, art, toys and more! Payment methods will vary between vendors. Some will allow cash only.
At noon, lunch will be served in the meeting room. Kum N Go will be serving pizzas and we will be grilling hot dogs. The Arkansas Symphony will also be there playing music, and HealthCARE Express Bryant will set up a photo booth so you can document your comic con fun!
