Museum Day 2024 Recap
By Cody Berry
Saline County’s fourth annual Museum Day was a great success for the Gann Museum. This past Saturday, the museum welcomed more than 60 guests of all ages to see our “Building History” exhibit and more. From 10am until 4pm, ten Saline County museums were opened at the same time. Armed with stamps and brochures, we all had a wonderful day sharing the history of our county with visitors from all over the state. I even had one person who came from Texas!
I want to thank our neighbor, former state Senator Doyle Webb, for being kind enough to bring out his 1956 Chrysler Imperial which once belonged to Dr. Dewell Gann, Jr. He parked the car out front for most of the day to help attract visitors from the road. We also had a visit from some members of the Dixie Car Club. They arrived in style as usual in some American muscle cars including a red 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and a blue Ford Falcon Futura.
I want to thank everyone who came to the Gann Museum on Museum Day. Soon the library will hold its drawing, and we will see who this year’s winners of the bingo game are. Every year the library hands out prizes for those who qualify for them. There are two prize baskets and a grand prize which is an Ancestry.com DNA kit.
Coming up in October:
- our next exhibit called “Only the Names Have Changed,” opens on October 3rd
- and I will be presenting on the Gann Museum at the library on October 8th at 11am.
