Meet the Libraries in Our Consortium!

A few months ago, we officially joined the Mid-Ark Regional Library Consortium.

But what does that mean?

The Mid-Ark Regional Library Consortium consists of five libraries: Cleveland County Library, Dallas County Library, Grant County Library, Malvern-Hot Spring County Library and Saline County Library.

Saline County Library cardholders will now be able to use their library card at any of the four other libraries in the consortium, and vice versa. Are you visiting Grant County and need to grab a book while you’re there? Stop in at the Grant County Library and use your Saline County Library card! Then, it’s just as easy as returning your book to either branch of the Saline County Library (or whichever your home library is).

You heard that right…we’re getting access to a Bookmobile as a result of this consortium!

While we don’t have all the details on the Bookmobile just yet (we’re getting the list of stops in January), we do know that if you live in the outlier communities of Saline County (Traskwood, Haskell, East End, etc.), you’ll enjoy having access to the library through the Bookmobile.

More stuff including books, audiobooks and DVDs.

Through our new catalog, you will be able to see the materials available at all five libraries and place holds on those materials. We’ll make bi-weekly trips to deliver holds and return books to their original locations. This will, in most cases, give you access to materials you haven’t been able to get a hold of!

Let us not forget about our new app!

We now have an app! Once it goes live, you can easily find it by going to your phone’s app store, searching “Mid-Ark Regional Library System,” and downloading it. Once you sign in with your library card number (or scan it!) and PIN number, you’ll be able to view your account information including active holds, materials checked out, and fines. The app also has easy access to our online catalogs, Libby and Overdrive, online resources, events, social media and contact information for all five libraries!

Allow us to introduce you to Symphony.

In order to offer you all of these new materials from other libraries and provide you with a user-friendly library software, we have recently (just this week!) made the switch to Symphony, our new integrated library system (ILS). You probably noticed that we were “offline” for the first half of the week and that was necessary to move all of our records to the new system. Our new online catalog is much easier to navigate, and that’s just one of the great benefits of Symphony!

Please be patient with us as we become experts on Symphony! Once it’s all figured out, the whole system will be easier and more convenient for you! See below for information on our fellow libraries:
