Meet Ms. Ashlyn

We are so excited to welcome Ashlyn to the Saline County Library as the Youth Services Assistant: Makerspace! She has a background in teaching and enjoys a variety of artistic and musical interests that she can now share through Makerspace programming!

Here are a few fun facts about her:

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?

Invisibility – the introvert’s dream. Give me a book and let me hide away from everyone for hours.

What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?

My family has always poked fun at the fact that no matter where we take vacation, I always spend the majority of the trip reading. On a cruise, at the beach, at the lake, camping, at an amusement park…you’ll probably find me sitting in the shade, reading.

What’s the strangest talent you have?

I wouldn’t necessarily call it “strange,” but I have a very natural ability to quickly pick up any type of art form I decide to try: calligraphy, painting, embroidery, sketching, block printing, even hand-making my own watercolors. You name it, I’ve probably done it or could teach myself in a couple of hours.

Are you a cat person or a dog person (or other)?

I’m a typical cat mom with probably 95% of my camera roll showcasing my little furballs. I also have an obsession with hedgehogs. I have two tuxedo kitties, Millie and Milo, and my own pet “lap cactus” named Lola!
